Community Guidelines

1 Be Respectful

Every person on NovaReelOS deserves to be treated with basic dignity. We do not tolerate:

• Harassment -- targeted, repeated, unwanted contact or abuse directed at an individual
• Hate speech -- content that promotes violence or dehumanization based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin
• Threats -- direct or credible threats of physical violence against any person or group
• Doxxing -- sharing private personal information (address, phone, SSN) without consent
• Bullying -- sustained, targeted behavior intended to intimidate or humiliate

Disagreement and debate are welcome. Personal attacks are not.

2 Content Standards

We expect creators to maintain honest, quality content:

• Original content -- post work you created or have rights to share
• Proper attribution -- credit collaborators, musicians, and source material
• No spam -- repetitive, low-quality, or irrelevant content designed to game the system
• Accurate information -- do not intentionally spread verifiably false claims presented as fact
• Content labels -- mark sensitive content (mature, graphic, controversial) appropriately

3 Prohibited Content

The following content is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate removal and potential account termination:

• Illegal content -- anything that violates applicable law
• CSAM -- child sexual abuse material of any kind (reported to NCMEC)
• Graphic violence -- real-world extreme violence, gore, or torture intended to shock
• Fraud & scams -- phishing, financial scams, pyramid schemes, counterfeit goods
• Impersonation -- pretending to be another person or organization with intent to deceive
• Terrorism -- content that promotes or recruits for terrorist organizations
• Non-consensual intimate imagery -- sharing intimate content without the subject's consent

4 Creator Conduct

Creators must operate with integrity:

• No fake engagement -- buying followers, likes, or views is prohibited
• No manipulation -- artificially inflating metrics or gaming algorithms
• No deceptive practices -- misleading thumbnails, bait-and-switch content, or false claims about products
• Respect intellectual property -- do not use others' content without permission or proper licensing
• Account authenticity -- one primary account per person; alt accounts must not be used to evade enforcement

5 Brand Partnerships

Transparency in sponsored content is required by law and our community standards:

• All sponsored content must be clearly disclosed using the #sponsored or #ad tag
• Paid partnerships must be marked using the NovaReelOS sponsored content toggle
• Creators must not make false claims about products or services in sponsored content
• FTC guidelines and local advertising regulations apply to all brand partnerships

6 Enforcement

We enforce these guidelines using a progressive system:

• Level 1: Warning -- first-time or minor violations receive a warning with explanation
• Level 2: Temporary Suspension -- repeated violations result in 7-30 day account suspension
• Level 3: Permanent Ban -- severe or persistent violations result in permanent account removal
• Level 4: Legal Referral -- illegal content is reported to law enforcement authorities

Severity of the violation, not frequency alone, determines the enforcement level. CSAM, terrorism, and direct threats may skip to Level 3 or 4 immediately.

7 Appeals

We believe in fair process. If your content is removed or your account is actioned:

• You will receive a notification explaining which guideline was violated
• You have 30 days to submit an appeal
• Appeals are reviewed by a different team member than the original decision-maker
• You will receive a response within 5 business days
• If your appeal is successful, your content will be restored and the action reversed

8 Reporting

If you see content that violates these guidelines:

• Use the Report button on any post, comment, or profile
• Select the category that best describes the violation
• Provide details or context if possible
• Our team reviews all reports within 24 hours

You can also report violations via our Legal Contact page. All reports are confidential -- we never reveal the reporter's identity to the reported party.
